Airport waits got us like…. 🙊🙉🙈
I met New Politics for a third time now, and this time I decided to give them this painting because I always believed that without their music I would have never even attempted to go into the art field.
When I showed the little painting to them at the meet and greet David immediately tackled me with a hug (even though we weren’t supposed to hug). He’s like, “you deserve a hug for this” and held me for a long time. I was almost in tears from being so happy and David made me feel like I actually mattered and that he cared about me. And it meant a lot to me.
Once we parted Lou just jokingly said, “Hey, David, that looks better than you in real life.” And we all laughed a little. Lou then pulled me in for a hug, thanking me for all of the support. At this point the security guards were getting kinda mad because we were taking so long but David reassured me that it wasn’t a big deal.
Soren then came up and hugged me and told me jokingly, “I have to admit, I’m a little jealous.” So I promised both him and Lou that I’ll make matching ones of them for the next tour.
They all then told me that they were going to hang the painting up in their studio, which is still surreal to me. I honestly thought they wouldn’t be too excited about it (because it is far from my best), but they took me by surprise and actually appreciated the effort I put into it.
We finally took the photo, which turned out being a group hug since David said, “Let’s do a group hug because we can’t stop hugging you.” They were so happy, and it was the first time in my life that I felt like I actually made someone’s day.
After the picture I waited with the guards for my friends to take their photos, and as we started leaving, David waved to me with a huge grin and yelled across the room, “Thank you! Have a nice holiday. We love you!” I’m so happy New Politics exist and I don’t know where I would be without them. They are all just so genuine and I’m proud to say that they are my favorite band.
